No. 16 - What does it really mean to have a karmic tie with someone, and how do I release it?

Ahh, so karmic ties. Let’s explore this conversation because there are many ways one could view karmic ties and yet I want to offer perhaps a new vantage point or perspective. Karmic ties aren’t chords of energy or energetic chords that you all talk about - those are something different entirely. A karmic tie is much like a coordinate on a GPS. It is something that guides you on your life journey, towards a particular person. They are meant to inspire your healing and growth and expansion in this lifetime.

Think of it like this - imagine there is a city you are driving to … San Diego, CA. And you put this city coordinates into your GPS and it routes you there. You don’t stay in San Diego forever or permanently, but it guides your path once you get in your car and begin the drive. And everything that unfolds on your road trip is just as important to your experience as what you experience once you arrive in San Diego. Going to San Deigo wasn’t just about what you’d experience once you get there but also about what you’d experience and who you would become as you journeyed there. Think of a karmic tie as “San Diego” … a coordinate on your soul’s GPS … that person and your connection with them is incredibly important to your life journey, but what’s equally important is who you become on your way to find them … or who you become as your interactions and relationship with them change you.

Karmic ties aren’t meant to be “undone” or “untangled” or “healed”. For many of you, you won’t see these relationships “healed” in the way you would imagine them to be. But that was never the point or intention - to heal your relationship with them. What is the intention is to heal your relationship with yourself … and they are your catalyst for that. 

A karmic tie is often not the relationships in your life that feel easy, breasy, and simple. They often feel deeply layered, complex, and challenging. Your journey to finding these people, or being in relationship with them, can feel like an uphill battle… or like being lost in a dark, terrifying forest. Everything these relationships awaken within you — the anger, the fear, the grief, the loss, the sadness, the shame, the jealousy — it’s not *between* you two … it’s within you. And your connection, as a karmic tie, was meant to trigger and awaken those feeling and energies within you. So, you could finally heal them and set them free.

It’s not about the people. It’s about what they stir and awaken within you. So, there is no releasing them. Just as there is no “releasing” a destination you plugged into your GPS. However, there is the releasing of fear that you’re going to get stuck in traffic, or the anger that it’s taking longer to get there than you expected, or the control of believing your road-trip must unfold in a specific way to be “good”.

You cannot release a karmic tie. But you can, my dear beautiful ones, release the binds they stir and trigger and awaken within you. And that, my love, is where your true freedom and liberation lies. And once you do, your relationship to this karmic tie will change. Because it’s job will be complete.

They say, “It’s an inside job.” and this is true of this here. There is no work to be done outside of yourself or in relationship or connection with this person. Because no matter what you do to try to change them or your relationship with them, it will all be futile without changing what is rising within you. 

We hope you know that your karmic ties are some of the most important relationships in this life journey. They were intentionally chosen to support your awakening and healing most deeply. Be gentle with yourself. Navigating them can be incredibly challenging. But you, our love, are an infinite being … you’ve lived lifetimes before this one and will live many, many more. You truly do have everything you need within you to heal, release, and find your way home. And you are never alone. We honor your courage to embark on this life journey … the work you are doing on foot is healing and awakening and expanding the collective, our beautiful friend. And it is a masterpiece that you are weaving. We love to see it come to life in full color. And should ever feel alone, afraid, or scared … slow down, breathe deep, place both hands over your heart-center, and ask us to join you. You’ll feel our presence immediately. We love you deeply.
